Andrew DeLoose

NOC Technician at Alaska Communications · Anchorage, Alaska

I keep business and carrier circuits running across Alaska. When something goes down, I stay with the customer until it's fixed. Fourteen years in Alaska telecom and IT, the last five in a NOC.

I work in the NOC at Alaska Communications in Anchorage, watching circuits and working tickets until service is back. Before that I installed access control and camera systems. I also pulled a lot of cable around the state and ran IT for an engineering firm. I studied journalism, so I'm picky about writing things down clearly.

Projects

FieldOps-Alaska

A tool for technicians traveling around Alaska. It handles trip planning and shipped-gear tracking, and it keeps an eye on weather and other hazards.

Home lab

Where I self-host web services and write the small apps and scripts I need.

Off the clock

Most of my time off goes to family. I do pottery at Devil's Club Pottery, collect antique books, and play board games with friends. When the weather cooperates, I'm hiking or mountain biking.
